TRISK consisted of three elements 1 A modular program including eight, one-week-long course modules, 2 an applied training period of hours at an institution performing risk assessments, and 3 a final examination.
Module 1: Introduction to risk assessment and management, with special attention to chemical risk assessment. Module 3: Identification and assessment of genotoxic and non-genotoxic carcinogens. Module 5: Identification and assessment of organ toxicity, including neurotoxicity, immunotoxicity.
Module 7: Identification and assessment of reproductive toxicity and test guidelines and testing strategies. Selected by the trainees among the courses already available in Europe including for instance, but are not limited to, cosmetics, plant protection products and biocides, consumer products, medicines and veterinary drugs, contaminants in food, soil and water, occupational exposure, risk communication, industrial chemicals, 3Rs in risk assessment. The project visibility and results were disseminated to key stakeholders by involving the numerous collaborating partners across Europe, through the implementation and upholding of the project website, and through the organization of various promotional events during EUROTOX scientific conferences in Dresden , Barcelona and Paris TRISK filled an important need in the training of toxicologists into areas of risk assessment by establishing a clear and recognized definition of training criteria to serve as a model for institutions interested in develop similar programs, and as an useful guide in the develop of certified training courses leading to the recognition of risk assessors.
